About Me

About Rebecca- The SEN Home Ed Circle Founder

My name is Rebecca Harrison. I am a wife, mother of two boys, and a qualified teacher with over 20 years of experience in education. My journey into SEND home education began with my eldest son, C, who is autistic and has ADHD.

When C was just 5, his mainstream primary school told us they could no longer meet his needs and suggested a special school. With an EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) in place, I thought the transition would be straightforward. It wasn’t.

During Covid, the chaos in schools made C’s stress unbearable. We withdrew him from mainstream and began the long search for the right SEND school. Over four years, I visited more than 50 SEND schools across our area — each one telling us they had “no places available.” Eventually, the local authority agreed to an EOTAS package (Education Otherwise Than At School), with tutors coming to teach him at home.

This journey opened my eyes to how many families are left without the right support.

Why I Created The SEN Home Ed Circle

I am passionate about creating accessible, practical resources for SEND children and ensuring that parents and carers understand the SEND system — from navigating EHCPs to securing the right provision.

I also want to support educators, teaching assistants, and SEND professionals to access high-quality, tailored learning materials that truly meet the needs of autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, and other neurodivergent children.

What The SEN Home Ed Circle Offers

Through the SEN Home Ed Circle subscription, families and professionals can access:

  1. Self-study lessons in maths, English, science, cookery, gardening, computing, and more
  2. Webinars with SEND experts
  3. Printable workbooks for learners with autism, ADHD, PDA, and dyslexia
  4. Guidance on EHCPs, funding, and SEND family support
  5. Community, encouragement, and hope

Alongside this, I blog regularly about:

  • SEND resources and grants
  • Days out and accessible activities for SEND families
  • Book reviews and practical tools for home educating children with special needs

My Mission

My mission is to empower SEND families and professionals. I want children and young people with additional needs to access the education they are entitled to. I want parents and carers to feel supported and informed, not isolated and overwhelmed.

In a world where SEND families are too often forgotten, I created The SEN Home Ed Circle to be a place of hope, empowerment, and practical support.

Empowering Children

United, SEND parents and carers and SEND professionals are a force of limitless strength—empowered by love, resilience, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves to have their needs met and thrive.
